The shelter is warm and has a nice communal vibe. After reserving spots in the Elfin shelter back in January, we finally go on an overnight snowshoeing trip on the Elfin Lakes trail. The hut does not take reservations and costs $15/night payable in cash only. Also, a few large pots are provided for melting snow or boiling water from the lakes.
